Hi everyone!
My name is Megan Muravez and I am the new Student Intern at
the PLU International Student Center. I was born and raised in Stavanger,
Norway, to a Norwegian mother and American father. A lot of PLU students are
confused when they find out that I’m Norwegian, because my first name is very
American, but I’ve found it to be a nice way of blending in to the crowd.
Growing up, my family went on many vacations to the US, and
I fell in love with American culture at an early age. This fondness continued
to flourish with every vacation as I grew older. Since the age of 10, I’ve been
determined to study abroad, where the United States ranked #1 on my list of
destinations to study. Last fall, I finally made that dream a reality when I moved
from my hometown to Tacoma in order to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business
Administration.
Since coming here last fall, I’ve found that PLU has been the
most welcoming environment I could ever ask for as an international student.
Not only have I built friendships with other Scandinavians, but I’ve found it
just as easy to meet and make friends with American students on campus. Fun
fact: they love international students! Pacific Lutheran is a hidden pearl of
the Pacific North-West, and I am so glad that I get to call this my home. I am
only a junior, so luckily, I have a few years left of being a Lute!
