Hello my name is Pape Mathioro Samba, but friends prefer to
call me by my first name Pap, of course without the “e”, in fear of
mispronouncing my beautiful name. My real name Mathioro does not really have a
meaning but Pape means just “my dad” in my native language called Wolof.
I am an international student from Senegal, and I have been
living in Washington State for the past two years. I did my entire pre-college
education in Senegal, where the language of instruction was in French. After I
graduated from high school with a Senegalese Baccalaureate diploma, I decided
to come to the U.S. to further my knowledge about the World Economy and the
global financial system. I started my college journey in the U.S. at Tacoma
Community College here in Washington. After my graduation from TCC, I decided
to transfer to PLU.
I am currently a junior at PLU; my major is Business
Administration with a concentration in Finance. I also intend to minor in
Statistics. My expected graduation period is 2016.
In my spare time, I usually like to debate a lot with
friends and hang out with them, go for a run, play soccer or basketball, and go
to the movies. However, sometimes I find it very challenging to practice and
enjoy my favorite sports and activities because the time is too short and does
not allow me to cope with it.
